We can find you the perfect teaching position in this beautiful coastal city, for 6 months or more! Whether you are a first-time teacher or a seasoned classroom leader, you’ll be fully prepared to teach English with our 120-hour Premier TEFL package. We have positions open for you!
Landing in China, you and the dozens of other TEFL teachers will be picked up at the airport and transported to your orientation venue. This first stop will be where you will relax and get to know each other over a free welcome dinner. But it doesn´t end here!
Over 3-5 days you and your fellow teachers will be prepared for life in China; daily workshops, excursions, cultural seminars and 24/7 support from our dedicated Shanghai team, get ready to become part of a new family.

- Passport holder from USA, Canada, UK, Ireland, South Africa, Australia or New Zealand
- Clean bill of mental and physical health

How it works?
Before you go, you’ll have an application form and an online interview to complete. Once you submit all your documents you’ll be on your way to China!
Once you have been formally accepted you can book your flight to Shanghai. Upon landing, you and your fellow TEFL teachers will be greeted by our special in-country team. The transfer to your accommodation will fly by as you get to know all of your new colleagues (or should we say friends!).
What do you need to organize?
- International flights: Return flights are a must
- Police check: Each applicant must have a clean criminal record
- Budget: Each applicant covers personal excursions and meals
- Travel insurance: Comprehensive cover for travel & medical insurance
- Vaccines: Consult your doctor
- You’ll have full support to obtain your visa (and need to budget US$400/€330/£290 for visa invitation administration plus the visa fee itself)
Your teaching experience
When you teach English in Shanghai your working week will add up to 40 hours. 25 hours will be dedicated to in-class teaching. A huge bonus to this internship is the added teaching assistant in each school. They will help you settle into your new position and execute top-class lessons. Don´t forget you will have our 120 hours express TEFL course under your belt.
The remaining 15 hours are yours to use for grading, lesson planning and some staff socializing. Your eager students are aged between 4-12 years old, and your class will never have more than 12 students. Working days are spread over Monday to Sunday, with two consecutive days off midweek. Classes are held 1pm-8pm Monday to Friday, and 9am-6pm Saturday and Sunday.

Once you settle in, you will spend 5.5 months gaining hands-on teaching experience in one of China´s most breath-taking cities:
Some schools are outside Shanghai, in the suburbs of Shanghai district. You can request to be placed in Shanghai directly but this cannot be guaranteed as it depends on school openings and your interview, which school will select your application.
Plus, with regular trips, you’ll be able to immerse yourself in a melting pot of different cultures from all throughout China.
Away from classroom
Prepare to fall in love with this enchanting and electric city. Walk along Shanghai´s glittering waterfront, The Bund, get lost along the meandering streets of Tinazifang and soak up some local culture in Fuxing park.
Chinese food, so diverse and rich, is unique throughout almost every town. Shanghai offers local dishes (Hu cuisine) or traditional plates from every region of this mammoth country; look out for hand pulled noodles, crab dumpling soup and steamed buns. Pull up a seat al fresco in the French Concession along any of the numerous wine bars, pop-up restaurants and live music venues.
If you need some downtime from teaching or exploring this colourful city, head towards the Jing’an Temple Buddhist temple. This tranquil paradise will relax your mind and help stimulate new ideas for the classroom. You won´t be solo during all of these amazing experiences; get ready to be part of a young and social community of global TEFL teachers!
With a monthly allowance of 5,000 (RMB) and rent-free accommodation, you’re set to enjoy China stress-free! Upon completion of your 5.5 months, enjoy a 2,000 (RMB) flight reimbursement. Your daily food budget won´t cost you more than 65 (RMB) – thats $10!
And don´t forget: if you are not already TEFL qualified, we include the 120-hour premier TEFL qualification.
