If you want to teach English in Vietnam, a country filled with ancient art and architecture, its lands dotted with cascading rice fields and delicious food, then you’ve come to the right place.
In Vietnam each school recognises the importance of learning English. English is considered the working language of the world, paving the way for an economy and population that is more and more international.
The demand for TEFL teachers has never been greater. But don’t overlook the country’s sheer beauty and history when deciding to teach in Vietnam. It really is a traveller’s paradise.
Join dozens of fellow TEFL teachers for an experience that will not only give you a lifetime qualification and hands on teaching experience, but also the opportunity to live in one of the most enigmatic and enchanting countries of South East Asia.
All teachers arrive to Vietnam for a one-week orientation where you’ll learn about living, teaching and most importantly, travelling in Vietnam.
Our dedicated in-country team will be there to support you every step of the way. So get ready to join your new TEFL family!
Before you go, you’ll have an application form to complete and a video interview. Then submit all your documents and you’ll be on your way to teach English in Vietnam!
Once you have been formally accepted you will be informed to book your flight to either Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh, where you will be picked up and transferred to your orientation venue. At the end of the 7 days you and your fellow interns can hop on a bus, train or flight to your new teaching location.
If you want to teach English in Vietnam, prepare yourself for the variety of options. Intern placements range from small kindergarten schools, private language institutions to secondary schools swimming with thousands of students.
It is common for schools to have foreign English teachers. But in other cases it is not uncommon to be the only TEFL teacher. However, don’t fret. With 120 hours TEFL training under your belt you’ll be racing to get into the classroom.
Teacher support is paramount. So each school assigns a liaison figure to assist you in your journey teaching teaching English in Vietnam.
The focus of your lessons will be conversational English, tailored around a weekly timetable of 35 hours. Over a 5-6 day period you will dedicate 20 hours to in-class teaching with the remaining 15 hours assigned to lesson planning and marking.
In Vietnam, TEFL teachers get some of the most hands-on experience, as you lead the majority of classes independently. So take on this challenge and see yourself grow and develop into a world-class teacher.
Your placement will be based on your age-group preference and placement availability. The majority of placements are in suburbs of large cities or in more rural areas of:
Hanoi, Haiphong, Halong, Ho Chi Minh City, Vinh, Hue and in the Mekong Delta
Aside from teaching English there is so much to explore and experience in Vietnam.
Sail along the perfume river, visit the worlds largest cave of Son Doong or gaze out over the famous rice terraces. Scooting around the countryside is a piece of cake. Alternatively, hop on a cheap flight to Cambodia, Laos or China.
It’s time to make South East Asia yours!
With rent-free accommodation and a monthly salary of $700 you’ll live like a king or queen. With bowls of pho for less than $1, the freshest and cheapest produce at local markets and Saignon beer brewed next door (possibly not true), Vietnam is calling for you.
