At Teach English Global, our speciality has always been helping teachers find exciting opportunities in China. However, given the large number of applicants we receive, and the interest many have in exploring other countries across Asia, we’ve also established partnerships with many well-respected schools and institutions in the following countries:

Hong Kong

Hong Kong, a global hub of 7.5 million people, combines East and West in a compact, fast-paced environment. Known for its skyline, efficient transport, and bilingual Cantonese-English culture, the city offers a professional and cosmopolitan setting for teachers. Its subtropical climate brings hot summers and mild winters, and while living costs are high, Hong Kong remains one of Asia’s most dynamic destinations for those seeking strong career opportunities and a truly international lifestyle.

The TEFL industry here is well-developed and highly respected. Many teachers moving to Hong Kong do so to work in Kindergartens and Language Centres. These schools usually pay HK$18,000–30,000 per month, with a range of benefits including flight allowances and bonuses. Contracts typically run for one to two years, with the main hiring season from July to September.

Hong Kong is ideal for teachers looking to advance their careers in a polished, professional environment while staying close to mainland China — offering an urban lifestyle, excellent public services, and the chance to work in one of Asia’s most sophisticated education systems.

Thailand

Thailand

Thailand, home to around 71 million people, offers a captivating mix of tropical beaches, buzzing cities, and serene mountain regions. The capital, Bangkok, is a dynamic hub of temples, street food, and nightlife, while Chiang Mai attracts teachers with its laid-back culture and cooler climate. Southern destinations like Phuket and Krabi boast turquoise coastlines and island life. The Thai climate is warm and humid year-round, with distinct dry and rainy seasons. Culturally, Thailand values politeness, Buddhism, and community, making it both vibrant and welcoming to foreign teachers — though outside major cities, English proficiency remains modest.

The TEFL industry in Thailand is one of the most accessible in Asia, with opportunities predominantly found in Public Schools across the country. Freshly qualified teachers usually start through dispatch programs, earning around ฿35,000–45,000 per month (≈USD $1,000–$1,400), with benefits such as housing, bonuses, and visa sponsorship. Public school contracts follow the Thai academic calendar, beginning in May. Teachers can expect professional visa support and a friendly work culture that balances meaningful classroom work with Thailand’s famously affordable and adventure-filled lifestyle.

Vietnam

Vietnam

Vietnam, with a population of about 101 million, is one of Asia’s fastest-developing nations — blending traditional values with rapid modernisation. The country’s long, S-shaped geography offers diversity in both climate and lifestyle: Hanoi in the north has cooler winters and colonial charm, Ho Chi Minh City in the south pulses with economic energy, and coastal cities like Da Nang and Nha Trang promise a slower pace and seaside living. Vietnamese culture values education, community, and respect for teachers, and English proficiency is improving rapidly among younger generations.

The TEFL scene in Vietnam is booming, driven by strong demand for English in schools and private language centres. For new teachers, Language Centres are the most common entry route, with salaries typically between 35–40 million VND (≈USD $1,300–$1,500) per month.  Most language centres hire year-round, and provide visa sponsorship and relocation assistance. The cost of living is low compared to earnings, allowing teachers to enjoy a high standard of living. Vietnam is an exciting destination that combines professional growth with an affordable, culturally rich lifestyle.
