How Do I Validate a TEFL Certificate?
Believe it or not, but people attempt to fabricate a TEFL certificate. Whether it’s taking a genuine TEFL certificate and changing the person’s name or creating an entirely new one, more and more people are attempting to create fake TEFL certificates. With the increase in people forging TEFL certificates, employers validate each certificate they receive from applicants to ensure they have completed the TEFL course.
Why is it so important to have a validated TEFL certificate?
If your TEFL certificate cannot be validated, it signals to employers that you may not have received your TEFL at all or it may not have been from a reputable source. In other words, you may be unable to get the job! Employers reach out to the TEFL company the applicant claims to have received their certificate from. That is why it is so important to ensure that you get your TEFL certification from a reputable source that can be validated. But with so many people getting their TEFL certification, how can you tell which one is real?
How can you validate a TEFL certificate?
The first step is to make sure that the certificate was received from a reputable company. For example, our qualifications are all endorsed by TQUK (Training Qualification United Kingdom) and the Level 5 Course that we offer is Ofqual regulated and monitored. For those unfamiliar with what Ofqual is, it stands for The Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation. It is the department in the English government which is responsible for monitoring and maintaining certain educational standards. In other words, if you have received your TEFL from us, then you can rest assured that it was a reputable course that is constantly being regulated and monitored.
Once you have verified that it was received from a reputable company, you can verify that the course was completed by the applicant presenting the TEFL certificate by checking the verification number. All TEFL certificates received from the TEFL Institute of Ireland after March 2019 are given a unique verification number. You can simply input the number on our website here, and the applicant’s name, qualification, and training hours completed will appear. You can simply contact us to verify the certificate if the TEFL was received before that date.
With more and more companies and schools verifying TEFL certificates, it is even more vital to ensure that you have received the certification from a reputable company and that you have completed the proper course. Your future teaching position and dream life depend on it!
