WHY CHOOSE US
EMPLOYMENT Opportunities
The “Teaching English as a Foreign Language” (TEFL) certificate. This is the most commonly accepted certificate worldwide. This certificate allows you to teach English to non-native speakers across the globe. The main qualifications to get a TEFL is to have the ability to speak English at a native-level and then complete a course. You can complete a TEFL course either online or in a classroom. The different courses vary based on the number of hours it takes to complete. The minimum required course hours are 120 with the highest level of TEFL education being the Government Regulated Level 5 TEFL course.
A good TEFL programme with professional representatives will listen to your story and give you the best possible advice. That’s our job to help you get started but you have to help us. Have answers ready for the big questions: Why are you doing this? Where do you want to teach? Is this a year of your life or an open-ended thing? The answers will impact your TEFL course choice more than you realise. Request a free call with our course enrollment advisor today.
This is one of the most important things to check when picking the best TEFL course. Accreditation means that the course is officially recognised by an awarding body and deemed valid for learning. This is important as it means the system is validated and is held to a high standard of education. Your potential employer can verify this and check you have undertaken proper training. If you haven’t and the course is not accredited, then it won’t be seen as worth anything in the eyes of the employer.
All of the courses at the TEFL Institute are accredited by ODLQC & ACDL. You can find this information on our website. Highfield Qualifications also approves our training courses & our Level 5 courses are on the Ofqual registry. This means that they have gone through rigorous checks and are up to the standard you want for the best TEFL course! Your employers can verify this on the website or check with us so they know you have undertaken the best training for the job!
Lots of people ask about the difference between our courses. For example, the 120 Hour Premier TEFL Course is what we would call one of our fast-track courses. This is the minimum recognised worldwide.
• You have 10 modules to complete usually taking 2-4 weeks.
• Each module has a multiple-choice test at the end and you need 80% to pass.
• You’ll get your digital cert from us upon completion, and you can purchase your hardcopy certificate for only €25.
Looking at the 180 Hour Level 5 Ofqual Regulated TEFL Diploma by comparison:
• Learners spend typically 8-10 weeks to complete the 10 modules
• Since it’s a UK government-regulated Level 5 diploma course the pass mark is 100% and assessments are multiple-choice plus open-ended answers. Don’t worry, you can re-attempt quizzes in order to get 100%. Our academic team will review your answers at the end of your 10 modules and may ask for some questions to be reattempted (absolutely normal). Some questions may require providing academic references.
• After module 10, and following a successful assessment from our academic team, we’ll be able to claim the licence for your Ofqual (government) certificate from our accreditation body Highfield Qualifications. You’ll get your digital and hard copy Level 5 diploma certificate from us at no extra charge.
The Ofqual-regulated course range is certainly for those people who want to gain a higher-level, more recognised qualification.

Teaching English online can give you much flexibility in your work. You can decide your number of hours and what availability you have. If you prefer to work in the morning, you can look for a position in advertising classes this time. You can take control of your schedule and plan your lessons for what time suits you.
If you have other commitments or even another job, online teaching works well, as you can find positions requiring just 10 hours of teaching a week. This is easy to do if you want to supplement your existing earnings with some online education.
The great news is that you don’t need a degree to take a TEFL course! This is a common worry so I’m glad you asked.
Anyone with fluent English can enrol on one of our courses to become a qualified and confident English teacher.
It’s good to know that a degree is a requirement in some countries to get a work permit such as Japan, Thailand and Korea etc, but there are many opportunities for those without a degree to be hired, especially in Europe, South America or online.
Even if you see an employer preference for degree holders I still recommend applying as they may not get their full quota and you may have so many additional skills that will appeal to hiring managers, also online teaching is booming at the moment.
