Viseu is surrounded by picture-perfect mountain scenery. With a population of only around 100,000 people Viseu is an elegant balance between cosmopolitan city vibes and compactness that allows its residents to slow down and enjoy the details of daily living.

OUTSIDE THE CLASSROOM
If you love culture and the arts, Viseu, is the perfect destination for you. You can appreciate the artwork in their local art museums or peruse novels in quaint little bookshops. The main plaza, Praça da República, offers a lively café culture, perfect for sampling gastronomic favourites like roasted veal or sipping Portuguese wine while people-watching.
Shoppers will delight in the shopping malls in Viseu. Palácio do Gelo boasts over 60 shops, a cinema (with movies in English), and even an ice skating rink, the largest on the Iberian Peninsula. And if you cannot find what you need there, head over to Forum Viseu for more shopping bliss.
Like the rest of Portugal, there is no shortage of things to do and see near Viseu. Go hiking in the Serra da Estrela mountains, the tallest in the country, or enjoy some winter fun on the slopes at Portugal’s only ski resort.
YOUR TEACHING EXPERIENCE
You will encourage students to learn English by engaging them in a variety of classroom activities aimed at improving their reading, listening, speaking, writing, grammar, and pronunciation. This will be accomplished through activities involving music and games. You will be teaching classes with up to 12 students in the mornings, afternoons, late afternoons, and Saturday mornings. The variety of students you’ll teach will help differentiate you from other TEFL teachers. While teaching in Portugal, your student will vary from young learners to teens, occasionally teaching adults.
