When moving to a new country, one of the most important things to do in order to integrate is to learn the language. By learning the language, you will be able to communicate with locals and make friends. Vietnam in particular has many small villages around the country where people do not speak English. Therefore, in order to communicate with the people there, it will be vital that you know a few key phrases.

Similar to other Southeast Asian languages, Vietnamese is a tonal language. When you are speaking Vietnamese, if you mispronounce the word, it can completely change the meaning of the word. It is also the national language of Vietnam and spoken as a first language by the majority of the population. In order to prepare you on your journey to learning Vietnamese, we have put together a list of key Vietnamese phrases.
