TEFL Communities and Networking

As our team at the TEFL Institute of Ireland is made up of mostly former teachers, we know that sometimes you can feel lost as a TEFL teacher, especially when you are teaching online! That is why we would like to share some of our favourite sites that will share amazing resources and communities with you:

Social Networking Groups that we love!

Of course we will start this off by saying you have to join our TEFL Alumni group! This is a private group for our teachers where we share ideas and one-off job opportunities. Once you have enrolled onto one of our courses, you will be able to gain access to this group and will receive the link through an email. We also host FREE monthly webinars on trending topics with Q&A sessions. Best part? It’s available to everyone! You can see our upcoming events and meet our team HERE.

A great group for ideas and job openings would THIS ONE. This is a global, public group with over 139K members as of writing this blog. The posts are plentiful, and will really help you get a grasp on how big the TEFL community is, and of course how amazing it is to be part of such a friendly community with a sense of togetherness!

I know sometimes that we may feel Facebook is for friends and family, so why not try networking on the work-based mothership LinkedIn! This group is amazing for networking and will help you find the right path for online TEFL teaching. Try it out! We sure love it.

If you are looking for something a bit more local, there is a group for all! You would be astonished at the amount of groups out there, no matter how niche. How niche you ask? Well lets just say, for example, you are an Irish teacher currently living in Vancouver. There’s a group for that! Now, let’s say you are an English teacher currently teaching or would like to teach in Asia. Yes, there sure is a group for that too!

Learn YOUR English

Like us, Learn YOUR English believes that continued professional development should not be passive, and your learning should not stop after completion of your course!

Learn YOUR English is an amazing membership community of like-minded teachers where you get access to updated lesson plans, free interactive webinars, continuous CPD-based podcasts, and much more! If you love learning, developing, and taking risks in education, join the community of teaching professionals.

As well as all the amazing learning you’ll be doing, you can also get the chance to share your wisdom! Upload and sell your lesson plans, conduct webinars, and even host round-table discussions on their YouTube channel.

Did you know that Learn YOUR English has CPD courses available too? Members get 50% off! We’ve tried out the courses ourselves and can say that they have unique information that will definitely help you on your TEFL journey!

Want to hear the best part? Just for our teachers, they have given a huge discount of 20%! Just use the code TEFLIRELAND to avail of this deal. There is no commitment needed and you can cancel your monthly subscription at any time. But trust us when we say that you won’t want to! To this day, they have never had a cancellation and the community is only growing.

Off2Class

Off2Class has a HUGE amount of free resources for its members. And guess what? It’s free to become one! There are also amazing premium member options that you won’t be able to say no too – trust us!

Off2Class primary focus is on helping you to become a better teacher, with all the lesson planning tips and tricks included. They have a step-by-step curriculum builder, which will help you to create lesson plans without all the stress.

If you are an experienced online TEFL teacher looking to branch out on your own and move away from standardized lessons by organizers but are feeling a bit nervous, then this is going to be perfect for you! Their ideas and suggestions are fresh and current, but most importantly varied! No matter the student level or goal, they have it all.

A word from the TEFL Institute of Ireland

In these weird times, we know it can be difficult to put yourself out there and really give it a go with your TEFL career! So whether you are just starting out or have years of experience, we hope this blog helps you to reach your full potential <3
