1. Visit Old Bagan

Old Bagan is a must-see destination for anyone visiting Myanmar. Have you ever wanted to watch hundreds of hot air balloons over thousands of temples? 2. Celebrate Thadingyut Festival

Thadingyut festival marks the end of the Buddhist Lent. You can be anywhere in the country and you will be able to experience the joy and energy surrounding this holiday. Celebrate as the locals light up firecrackers and candles to commemorate this festival.

3. Take a river cruise from Bagan to Mandalay

When traveling between Bagan and Mandalay, there are two options for you to take; bus for six hours or boat for twelve. Although it is the longer option, it will give you the opportunity to get a unique view of the country. You will also be able to explore different villages that line the river, places you would not be able to visit otherwise.

4. Fish on Inle Lake

Whether you know how to fish or not, visiting Inle Lake to watch the one-legged anglers is a unique experience to behold in Myanmar. Watch as they maneuver the boats, standing on one leg and using the other to steer the boat.

5. Hike from Kalaw to Inle Lake

Enjoy the rolling hills lined with rice fields as you journey back in time to a simpler time trekking to Inle Lake. This journey will provide you with the perfect opportunity to get off the beaten track to enjoy the rural life in this beautiful countryside.

6. Taste authentic Burmese street food

Whenever visiting a Southeast Asian country, one of the best things to do while there is to try their food. Be sure to sample a variety of Burmese food as you wander through the night markets to sample quail eggs and different curries.

7. Join in the Thingyan Water Festival

Simply picture a massive water fight over several days and that is exactly what the Thingyan Water Festival is! It is meant to bring in the New Year (although it occurs in April) and is incredibly fun! Relive your childhood as you fire water guns at friends and strangers alike.
