China is a hotspot for any budding professional English teachers. Whether you’re fresh out of education yourself or a seasoned classroom leader, you’ll join a group of enthusiastic teachers ready for a unique teaching adventure.

This paid teaching internship will offer new experiences both in and out of the classroom. Experience the buzzing expat nightlife in Beijing with your fellow teachers, as well as the culture steeped streets, temples and markets offered in China’s capital city.

Teachers are held in high regard within Chinese society, so prepare to be soluted everywhere you go and take pictures with the locals as you walk through some of the famous bustling street markets and traditional Chinese temples. You’ll be a celebrity within the community.

Our 120-hour express TEFL certificate will fully prepare you to teach English as a foreign language before you step foot on the plane.

You’ll be picked up at the airport when you arrive and brought to your four-day teaching orientation in Beijing, giving you the chance to get comfortable settling into your new, exciting life in China.

During orientation, you’ll have the chance to meet fellow teachers, practice your teaching skills through practical workshops, learn some handy phrases in Mandarin to help you get started, enjoy some sightseeing, and pick up some cultural tips for your life in China.

You’ll be more than prepared by the time you start teaching. We’ve been in your shoes and can offer some of the best professional advice to help you begin your TEFL career.

  • Aged between 18 to 45
  • Native English speaker
  • Completed High School
  • TEFL qualified (included)
  • Culturally sensitive
  • Clean bill of mental and physical health
  • No criminal record

How it works?

Before you go, you’ll have an application form to complete. Once you submit all your documents you’ll be on your way to China!

Getting there

You’ll be picked up from Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK) by our in-country team.

What do you need to organize?

  • International flights: You’ll need return flights (can be two one-way)
  • Police check: Each applicant must have a clean criminal record
  • Health check: You may need to provide a health statement
  • Vaccines: Consult your doctor
  • Budget: Spending money for your first five weeks plus excursions etc
  • Visa cost: You’ll have full support to obtain your visa (and need to budget €215 for visa invitation administration plus the visa fee itself)
  • Insurance: Make sure to get travel and health insurance before you go

Your teaching experience

You’ll teach face-to-face for approximately 15 hours during a five day workweek. You’ll focus on teaching your students’ reading, writing, listening and speaking skills through English.

Your average working week will consist of an average of 35 school hours, including 20 hours of lesson planning and school activities.

Students will come in all shapes and sizes, ages range from kindergarten to university level. Very exciting.

Find yourself teaching in private or public schools as well as language centers. You’ll have the joy of being placed with at least one other teacher.

If you would like to be placed with a friend or partner, make sure to apply early as possible as placement together is based on availability.

Location

After you settle in, you will spend the semester teaching in one of our stunning placements throughout China. Locations are varied and include:

  • Inner Mongolia
  • Beijing
  • Guangdong

Outside the classroom

You won’t get bored while living in China.

Enjoy days off with groups of other teachers buy enjoying some authentic Asian cuisine, exploring ancient temples, shopping in famous markets and enjoying lively nights out while experiencing the synergy of both modern and traditional Chinese culture.

Allowance

Free accommodation throughout the internship, 4,500 Renminbi (RMB) flight reimbursement upon completion and free workday meals means your monthly stipend of 2,000 Renminbi (RMB) can be spent on enjoying yourself.
